Bialik in the Bush is our latest Primary School initiative, providing positive environmental and social educational outcomes for Year 3 students. In this investigative and experiential space, the students learn Science and Indigenous Studies through hands-on experiences, documenting their learning through journaling and bridging their newfound knowledge and skills into classroom investigations.
In this workshop, participants will be given a 15 page resource that assists them step into the students’ shoes, experiencing the spaces and places within the Bialik in the Bush environment. Examples of making thinking visible outside the typical classroom setting will be shared, with participants unpacking the symbolic meaning of the space and investigating edible native plants. On returning to the yarning cycle they will enjoy Warragal Greens damper and native mint tea. The learning from this workshop can be translated to all year levels in the primary and the middle years.
