Bilingual Italian/Australian Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood Education, Curtin University, Western Australia
In this session, Stefania presents a recent project in which she acted as co-researcher together with teachers and with Murrundindi (Ngurungaeta of the Wurundjeri people), investigating children’s ways of making kin with the non-human world. The presentation, rich in pedagogical documentation, illustrates connections with the values of the educational project of Reggio Emilia and conveys the fundamental importance of welcoming indigenous voices in educational research and practice. Concepts of care, ethical responsibility, and “inter-creature relationship” (Bird Rose, 2022, p. 13) are explored, and participants are invited to welcome “troubles” (Haraway, 2016) as unexpected relaunches within progettazione.
