Day 2: Breakout Session/Workshop 3

Ngarrngga Focus Group

Join us in this workshop to provide critical feedback on the current resources, establishing the barriers and challenges faced by classroom teachers and other educators in undertaking this work and examining how we can assist the integration of Indigenous knowledge into their teaching and learning. Participants in this workshop will be invited to share their thoughts on the following focus questions:

  1. Why is embedding Indigenous knowledge, histories and cultures in education important?
  2. In what ways are we observing or embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges, histories and cultures currently?
  3. What are the challenges and barriers experienced when embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges, histories and cultures in teaching and learning?
  4. How can teachers be better supported to embed Indigenous knowledge, histories and cultures into their teaching and learning?

Please note: this workshop is a component of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Curricula Project.2 (Project ID: 21494).  Participants will be supplied with a Plain Language Statement explaining what they will be asked to do, and the potential benefits and risks in participating in the workshop that must be signed and provided to the facilitators upon attending this session.
